Thimphu, Bhutan - Payments Essentials Workshop
The Visa payment ecosystem is built on a foundation of the four-party model that involves both the acceptance of payments and the issuance of payment tools. This seminar is aimed at providing you with an overview of digital payments and its benefits to a growing economy. As we start to understand the value, a review of the acceptance challenges and opportunities will inform governments on the need to implement policies that promote card activation, usage and acceptance.
It is widely recognized that payments will continue to evolve driven by new technology that is fueling payment innovations in the region. A discussion on the payment landscape will highlight the opportunities for introducing products and services that will not only bring the unbanked and/or underserved into the formal economy but also create better efficiencies, safer transactions and savings for governments and businesses.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe the various components of digital payments.
- Recognize the importance of enabling policies which will help to drive innovation, fuel industry creativeness resulting in payment growth.
- Appreciate the importance of financial literacy in accelerating the growth of payments.
This program is designed for management and decision makers whose roles are critical to the successful implementation and management of an effective payment system in the country.
